Fuerteventura Golf
Fuerteventura Golf Club, the first golf club on the island and home to the 2004 Spanish open, is an 18 hole, par 71 round extending 6,124 metres, with a mild decent from the club house hotel towards the sea.
The course excels for its simplicity and beauty; its main difficulties is mainly associated with the breeze and its many lakes, connected by small brooks and channels, which can sometimes come into the game. The dominating breeze comes from the North and when it blows strongly the course becomes a real test of the player's skill.
The course was designed by the prestigous architect Juan Catarimeau, who realised once the importance of the effect of the wind and land scaped it with this factor in mind.
For this reason we find extensive greens on average more than 614 sq. metres and fairways of up to 50 metres wide.
The designer attempted to balance the number of difficult holes with the number of easy ones, which some players can complete below par so golfing in Fuerteventura is open to golfers at all levels.
Guest fees are currently 56 Euros for 18 holes, and clubs can be hired for about 15 Euros but prices can change without notice so check with the club.
It is advisable to pre book. There is a large pro shop where buggies, trollies and clubs can be hired and T times can also be booked here.
There are two practice greens, one for putting and one for bunker shots available to guests.
The magnificent 5 star Elba palace golf hotel doubles as a club house and can provide refreshments and somewhere to relax after a hard days golf on your holiday before heading back to our villa.
N.B. ladies and gents golf clubs are available free of charge at Casa Patricia.
